Education

Members of the 2002-2003 Predoctoral Internship Training Program (l to r) Burt Hayner, Chris Iler and Isra Saleh-Mohd.

For the past five years, Coastal Behavioral Healthcare has provided training for doctoral level students in psychology in partnership with the Florida School of Professional Psychology of Argosy University in Tampa, Florida.

In 2002, Coastal Behavioral Healthcare made the decision to develop a formal Predoctoral Internship Training Program in Psychology and sought accreditation through the American Psychological Association.  We were extremely proud to receive Accreditation for five years in our First attempt!

The training program at Coastal now encompasses three components: Practicum Students, Pre-doctoral Interns, and Postdoctoral Residents. With Accreditation, the number of applicants also increased and during this fiscal year, six students were selected from across the United States. The six former postdoctoral residents are now licensed psychologists and five of them work here in our community!
