Community Assessment & Intervention Center
The Community Assessment and Intervention Center (CAIC) is the single point of entry for youth in Sarasota County requiring mental health and substance abuse services. The CAIC provides high quality, comprehensive assessments to determine the mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of the youth assessed. Following the assessment process, a feedback session is scheduled to develop a Service Plan that details the services the youth needs and where such services can be found. A written report of the assessment and the service plan are shared with the service provider, youth, and his or her family. Referral Coordinators encourage engagement by youth and their family in recommended services. Any youth between the ages of six and eighteen is eligible for services. Youth must be Sarasota County residents and not already involved in the juvenile justice system. Licensed mental health/substance abuse providers or masters level assessors provide all CAIC assessments. CAIC services are provided free of charge to children and families in need.
