About Us > History

Timeline

We began as a one-room storefront in 1971. Since then, Coastal Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. (CBH) has grown to meet the needs of our community. Three employees have become more than four hundred, providing an integrated system of care in mental health, substance abuse, prevention and intervention, and criminal justice services for our most vulnerable citizens.

Each year we serve more than 10,000 children, adolescents, adults, seniors and families in 23 locations throughout six counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We provide services for people where they are needed:in schools, in homes, in groups, in hospitals, and even in jails.

While the job is never done, we succeed every time a family is reunited, a person with mental illness is stabilized and returns to work, or a child threatening suicide is saved. Every time an individual becomes a self-sufficient, productive and satisfied member of our community, we celebrate.
